HIROTEC AMERICA is Recognized as a 2001 Automotive News PACE Award Honorable Mention for their Single Style Robotic Hemming Press

Detroit, MI - TESCO Engineering was selected with an honorable mention in the 2001 PACE (Premier Automotive Suppliers’ Contribution to Excellence) Awards program by Ernst & Young LLP and Automotive News. The PACE Awards recognize standout automotive suppliers who have excelled in adapting and reinventing their companies or their products to meet the growing service and quality demands of their customers - the world’s major automotive manufacturers.

TESCO Engineering was honored for its Single-Style Hemming Machine with Robotic Load/Unload (SSR), an innovation in robotic hemming products for the automated assembly line. The SSR makes the smooth edge on the perimeter of a closure panel (door, hood, decklid, liftgate). The machine folds the flange of the outer panel over the inner assembly in three steps; the final edge is very smooth. The SSR solved TESCO’s customer’s problems by reducing its size by 20% (allowing for floor space reduction costs), increasing the press stroke by 50% (allowing improved robot and maintenance operator access), incorporating a robotic load/unload method into the system (allows one robot to do requirements with one smooth motion). All of these savings resulted in a 34% cost reduction in the hemming cell for our automotive customers, as well as obtaining all of the customer’s original targets.“

We are excited to have been recognized as an honorable mention in this year’s awards; this deems us as one in a distinguished group of innovators,” states Jim Toeniskoetter, President, TESCO Engineering. “The employees of TESCO deserve this recognition. Their ingenuity, hard work and dedicated efforts have delivered unprecedented levels of value to our customers and, ultimately, the automotive consumer.”
